ED 115 Soft Skills for Instructors
I thought this class was actually very interesting. I liked how it broke down the soft skills into categories. I was aware of the people skills necessary to relate to people but thinking of these in conjunction with workplace behaviors actually added a new dimension in thinking about these people skills. I lumped people skills into what makes soft skills not thinking about how workplace skills added to people skills made up soft skills. Those were new concepts for me which I think enhanced my understanding of the term soft skills. I also very much appreciated the 4 tips to improving emotional intelligence and soft skills. Overall the class was very well organized and interesting. I found it very beneficial and helpful in understanding how to deal with difficult situations in a controlled and managable way.
Obviously my statement in the middle of the above paragraph is a bit confusing. What I was trying to state was that people skills with workplace behaviors are together what make up soft skills. As we develop and enhance our soft skills we can better handle difficult interactions and situations.
I am so looking forward to taking this class! I think that in a hectic work environment, where our attentions are pulled in so many different directions, it's so important to pay attention to how we treat others, and to learn not to take things personally. I know this will be an asset to my ongoing education.
