ED109 - Lesson Plans
Being relatively new to the Career College world, I have struggled with the development of lesson plans that would help me become a more effective educator. As I am gaining experience I am realizing more and more the importance of staying on track and the tools such as, lesson plans, rubrics, syllabi, etc. play in staying on task and becoming more effective in the classroom. I am also utilizing technology to the extent that finances will allow.
Developing lesson plans that would help and reduce stress make me an effective educator. Keep it simple is the KEY.
Lesson plans truly can be time consuming and a hassle to do sometimes. Anything that reduces the stress of lesson plans is helpful
Being an effective planner is key. Things will always come up that will force you to have to be flexible, but if you have a well structured lesson plan for at least two weeks at a time you should have no problem adapting.
I've been using a general outline/checklist to keep me on track in the classroom (I am a newbie college professor -- this is my first class, first semester). Many times I feel like I'm just "winging" it and regurgitating the text book in a condensed format.
I'm going to attempt doing lesson plans for next semester. I'm interested (at least for myself) to see if there is a difference in my classroom management.
There was a lot of good material in this course - much of it was review because I have a lot of experience, but it is still useful to revisit Bloom, etc. occasionally. I think the planning, syllabi, and lesson plans become easier as you gain experience. If I am teaching the same class over again, I can usually use previous lesson plans by tweaking them a bit for the class I have at the time. The material to be covered, etc., as well as the syllabi are supplied for us from the head office, so it is primarily lesson plans that need to be revised for each new group of students.
I began to use lesson plans in my first quarter of teaching. It definitely helped me to stay on track and not miss key information. I have seen my classes improve and I think the lesson plan was a key factor in the improvement.
Developing lesson plans has been a huge help to me. I started using lesson plans when I first started teaching. I learned many tips in this lesson however that I can and will continue to utilize.
Creating I lesson plan was one of my weak points, but by taking this course gives me a better understanding of how and to correctly create one. This course was well worth the time.
I cannot teach without a lesson plan, it helps keep me on track. It is also a great guide in making sure you are covering all necessary material and content.
Over the years, I have taught many courses - some with existing lesson plans that were poorly constructed and some that were concise and on target. I have also created a couple lesson plans and after completing this course, I can state that the information in ED 109 would have made my lesson plans not only more effective but also reduced the amount of time spent and my own personal stress!
