I certainly agree with that you have to be selective with your information and how you present it to the class. If you don't present it correctly, they will not be attentive and will not be engaged in any way. You need to make it interesting for them and also make it fun to keep them engaged and willing to learn more. You need to present it in many different ways to kkeep them occupied and wanting to ask questions and to learn more. You need to adjust for each class because no one class will be the same. All students are different and that if why you have to do different things.
You also have to monitor your class and their behavior so that it doesn't get out of hand. You can also develop a good rapport this way with them and also be able to keep them on task and pick up on any students that might be having difficulties. By doing this with your students/class, you will be helping them be more successful.
This also gives you the opportunity to interact more with each one of your students. This will make them feel more at ease with you as an instructor and also more comfortable with the other students. This will help break up the silence if there is any and also add interaction with everyone in the class.
I think that this was a great course and will help me in my teaching skills. I would highly recommend these classes to anyone, not only to those who teach because they give you a better understanding of individuals and also yourself.
I'm looking forward to incorporating what I've learned into my teaching skills and my classroom.
