Allied Health - Admissions

Does a program on probation have any affect on the overall accreditation of the school?

Representative Referrals

As an Admission Specialist of USA - University of St. Augustine, I am not required to know in-depth information for certain departments/areas, such as Financial Aid, or Career Services.  I will be able to focus more on transcript evals - the bulk of my workload.  However, in my previous position at another college, I had to know at least general information from each department so that I may answer general student questions.  I plan to become familiar with faculty/staff and the department contacts so if I am not able to answer a question that a student may have, I can refer them to the proper representative.  This will also ensure that I do not release any inaccurate information and students will be well-informed on any matter.

Resource Notebook

Compliance is essential to maintaining integrity and for that reason the Resource Notebook is an invaluable resource.

Foreign Diplomas

I had a student from a foreign country give his high school diploma to enter the course, after doing some research and contacting the school board. The student will need to go to foreign affairs with original transcripts or diploma from their country to be able to receive a letter stating that they meet the requirements. My question is can we let the student start the course without and hold their diploma until we receive the letter.

Transfer of Credits

If a school closed down and you accepted those students to start where they left off in a course what would be requirement for the school that is accepting them to have in there records for those students, so they may finish the course they started.

Catalogs

Can we give a link to the catalog on the school website to a prospective student?

Admission Personnel Title

What are some of the Titles used primarily for admissions staff? We use Admissions Representative. Are any of you using the word Agent or Specialist in your title?

geographical limitations in marketing

is there a limit to the the marketing blast in terms of distance? Can a school advertise within it's entire state, or does it have to stay within cetain geographical boundaries/counties?

Transfer of Credits

I find most people want 100% of college credits transferred from one college to another. Some individuals can be difficult when going through this process. My registrar does an excellent job doing a one on one explaining what transfers in and why.

School Catalogue

I put the school website for the catalogue on my business card to direct the student to the catalogue when they get home. I also, pull it up during my interview.

What is your way of using the catalogue?

Admissions Worksheet

I have an admisisons checklist that I like to go over with each prospective student. It helps the students to understand the infomation better and gives them a guide sheet for where to find the infomation on our website.

Transfer of credits

Am I required to verbally talk about tranfer credits if the issue doesn't apply being that the catolog goes over it?

CEE 105

I have been teaching hybrid courses for last 10 years and I found this online resource very useful.

Referrals

Many Admissions Representatives, including myself, don't ask for PDR's as much as we should. I have set daily goals for myself to be able to help me and my team. Any suggestions in different approaches?

Regional vs. National Accreditation

Quite often we meet with prospective students that are told from competitor schools (both private/public) that they should not go to a school that does not have regional accreditation. I understand that being accredited is a self-regulation, but why is it stressed so much out there and the perception of individuals looking at schools is that schools that are only nationally accredited are not worthy to go to? What is the difference? No one has been able to quite describe this to me in laments terms.

Income Potential

What are the main resources you direct prospective students to regarding income potential for the field of study or career they are looking to pursue?

Unethical Admissions Representatives

As an organization that oversees an approved training provider list I was glad to see information on these types of practices. We had issues with certian schools doing this in the past. Had I known this information I would have reported this to the CIE.

Campus Tours

This training has been very eye opening and helpful. There is so much to know and understand! My resource notebook is going to come in very handy as we revamp our student tours. I feel very prepared with what needs to be presented during our tours not only to meet requirements, but to enhance the prospective student experience.

Organizing Information

This was an excellent module and I learned so much important information. Each section built on the other and provided me a format to use when organizing my resource notebook.

News Publications

This training reiterate the importance of news publications. The Private Practice Section eNews - Stated PTs rank as 1 of the best jobs in healthcare for 2015. This is very valuable information for prospective students.
