When creating a group for a project, one thing needs to be considered. This important matter is to develop assignments that require a fair division of labor. One of the main reasons that student groups fail is that some individuals feel that not everyone is doing their fair share of the work. A way to prevent this feeling of disparity is to assign each group member an operation or contribution that interconnects with the work of other group members.

When I am teaching students I usually share abbreviations, or ways of learning how certain informations.

Students often miss key points as they are being given. Call attention to these points by making statements such as the following:

"This is a really important point."

"Listen closely to this point because it will help you to….."

I usually tell my students...listen up "this will show up as a question in ATI so pay attention"

A word of caution. Overuse these phrases and students will start to tune them out and miss the content you are sharing. Also, after making one of… >>>

Keeping my grade book up to date is  a little difficult to do when students missed the quiz and class. But it is important for students to know where they stand in the course and by having all of their points recorded and available you can tell them any time they make such a request. By being current with their scores, you are showing you care about their success.

One of the most common reasons that an assignment may be too difficult for your students is the instructor may have chosen assignments that are not clear, too comprehensive, or too advanced for the students at that point in the course. Strive to match the assignments to both course content and your students, based upon their experience level.

The main reason why demonstration teaching work is students are to learn the process and apply the process or what they have learned. Students see the application of the course content they have been studying. Demonstrations give students the steps that they need to follow to perform a task. Student attention and focus are increased because the students will soon be performing the steps themselves.

Research has shown that an instructor's personality can have a major impact on the retention and progression of student learners. As an instructor, you need to be aware of how your personality impacts students. Being able to identify personality strengths so they can be made a part of your professional development. Students will be drawn to you as a instructor if you also display interest in them and getting to know them. But it is also important to draw boundaries between you as a student. You are not their friend, but their mentor and instructor.

When teaching adults, class management means that you are prepared, organized, and dedicated to sharing your expertise and knowledge of the field. When students see an educator who possesses these characteristics, they settle into the course much quicker with less stress.

When dealing with angry students,  the effective way to get them to focus on sharing their concerns is through listening and by listening, you are showing that you are interested in learning more about their concerns and are willing to give them the time it takes for them to express their concerns.

Working with students who blame others for their problems includes helping them to own the responsibility for completing assignments, projects, and activities. Have them work in groups so that they can see the value of contributions from everyone, including themselves. They will see that if they don't complete their work, the other group members can't complete their work.
