Communication is something I highly prioritize in my personal life and strive to improve to the best of my ability. Now that i will be teaching, its nice to see other ways that I can improve my communication to help my students be as successful as possible. These are some strategies that I may also utilize at home!

Personally I prefer on-campus learning for engagement. It is easier to build those connections with students than in online learning, however I do understand it's benefits. For this reason, utilizing strategies to encourage good TMC is important. The retention rate may increase and students may not reap the full benefits of their online education 

online learning is becoming a more common way for students to get their education. it will be important to keep up to date with technology advances, maintain organization, and recognize what "type" of online students your are dealing with in order to support them in the ways the need to be successful. creating good rapport and providing feedback in a way that is considerate of the lack of non-verbal communication is also important so as not to reduce students' self-esteem 

connecting and building rapport with student will hopefully reduce retention 

I learned about the different types of learners and how students can make asynchronous learning difficult. I intend to implement so of the strategies I learned in order to keep the class on track, while also keeping students engaged and supported. I also learned the organization is very important for maintaining student documents.

I have learned about asynchronous and synchronous discussions, strategies for utilizing each, and when one may be more beneficial versus the other. Also taking into consideration students learning styles and appropriate ways to give feedback, especially though online courses due to inability to receive non-verbal feedback.

Taking the time to get to know students through biographies will help build rapport and that even though a course may be taught online it is important to maintain a sense of authority balanced with security for student sucess

knowledge of CMS and the ability to provide adequate support for online learning is how students will be able to be more successful

Utilizing a teaching outline to help stay on task and breaking down lectures into 10-15 minutes is helpful to keep students engaged and myself organized 

I will be excited to meet my class for the first time, especially because I was a student in the same program that I will be teaching. I feel that my personal experience of the program will help to build connection with the students and help them to know that with my other professional experiences that I will be sharing, they have the opportunity to make this career as great as the want for it to be.
