Questions are powerful tools of learning, not only useful for assessment.

Agree that the use of technology is vital in the classroom for the current generation.

Opening and closing questions really help set the tone and solidify learning.  Utilizing learning targets in questions keeps us all on track.

Guided notes is such an easy way to accomodate a struggling student and allow for processing later as they study.

The integrity of task and standards does not need to be compromised.  Consider accomodations as a key to their future. As adults and postsecondary learners they will have to advocate for themselves.

I appreciated the insight in allowing a space for anger to be vented by using writing, either the student or the teacher.  It slows down the situation.

Establishing structure, expectations and relationship decreases fear and uncertainty in the student.  Being a place of encouragement to share as they learn and approachable for questions increases a sense of safety and freedom to learn. Being consistent in repercussions of poor decisions decreases future battles, for example in overdue assignments.
