Inviting students to be allowed and encouraged to make mistakes, ask questions and stepping outside their comfort zones is crucial to them learning the job skills and also learning something new about themselves and what they can bring to the field they are being trained in.
I have found that asking a difficult student to leave the classroom is something I have avoided to reduce uncomfortable outcomes. However, If not dealt with the impact and message sent to the students who are committed to learning is far to negative and creates additional problems for my overall class objectives and course goals.

I really liked the idea to use the Observer role with the students that have a need to be the center of attention at all costs. I am going to incorporate this into my class outline ASAP! Thanks!

I feel the suggestions this module are very helpful. When I started teaching I had not realized how important getting the students motivated by getting them in small groups and working together really was. By using some of the examples given I found that both the students and myself felt class time was better used.
Videotape YOU! It is a good idea to have yourself videotaped occasionally to see how you are really presenting yourself. Get ready! These are hard to watch! difficult as these tapes are to watch but are useful and valuable in fixing those things about ourselves that if truth is being told are more of a distraction to the students than helping them learn the content!
In my opinion, finding that balance between relating to students or enabling them is key. We all want to be liked and accepted by others no matter our roles. However I have learned that when teaching its the professionalism mixed with being human in the classroom that brings respect from the students!

A simple and useful suggestion as relates to this training module, and the section on goals. Most of us do not have a positive feeling arise when we hear that word or have to sit down and really ask ourselves, honestly what goals did I create, work on and accomplish in the past six months? Or even during the previous year? Because goals often times start with strong and good intention, only to be set aside, put off and eventually forgotten. Try looking at the word goals differently, try to have goals mean something else for you in your head,… >>>

The Common negative bond students find and why you want to stop it from happening. Students come into the new classroom, often not knowing their peers in the class. And we have all learned that one of the best ways out of that occurred situation is to make a friend and make one fast! And the easiest way to turn a class stranger into a friend is to find something, anything you have in common with one another. This is where you (Instructor) comes in. Make sure that you start everyday out with an activity that gives them a positive… >>>
