Great implementation strategies for active learning!

I love the tips for planning for active learning activities! I used all of these last school year as a public-school teacher. 

I remember wanting my students to like me when I first started teaching 20 years ago - now all I want from them is respect! 

I have dealt with cheating in every program that I have taught. I utilize policy and procedures to ensure the school is protected. I like some of the ideas presented here to deter cheating and will implement them in the classroom setting. 

I found that my most challenging students were those I taught in the high school setting last year. While there is always a student or group of students that can be challenging in higher education, I have not found it to be overwhelmingly problematic. Engage all students and build those relationships and issues often resolve on their own. 

Laying out important information at the start of the term is essential to student success. I am fairly good at doing this for 5-week terms but struggled doing it for courses I never taught before that were offered for a full semester. 

This module was extremely helpful in helping to identify and safeguard protected information in the educational setting. 

I found it interesting that school records can be released with consent of next of kin after death. 

Again, as a nurse who is used to HIPAA, FERPA is very similar. Protected information is PROTECTED! 

For health care providers, FERPA is very similar to HIPAA. Treat all information as confidential and only those who need to know should access education records, just like health records.
