I had a girl reach her mid-year slump and lost sight of why she was in school.  A 5 minute conversation about working as a ultrasound tech after graduation revitalized her.  I think keeping sight on long term goals is key to motivating students.

I loved the learning games in ED310.  I'm a new teacher and I've found that I teach how my old instructors taught which was very "traditional" (long quiet powerpoint lectures) and I've seen how much more students can get out of a lecture if they are more active.  I strongly encourage you to try some of the activities in ED310.
