I really like the idea of the one minute paper and the three muddy points. 

It is important to have engagement for questions and conversations, organization, hyperlinks for reading materials, and learning activities. 

In order to have a good successful online experience there are a few things that have to be done. Navigational simplicity, easily able to move throughout the course, interactive content, and active learner centered learning. 

How detailed should planning be?

Lesson plans are important to help keep the information being delivered structured, organized, and up to date.

Every class will be different. Choose the topic to teach, choose ways to teach the basics. Find ways to incorporate everything else. Being sure to be aware of time management.
