I have learned that although students with disabilities are entitled to accommodations, it must still be reasonable and it is our job as instructors is to fundamentally teach all students the subject in the course without watering down the curriculum or lessening expectations.

I learned a new term of "oppositional defiant disoder" as well as there being a different between OCD & obsessive compulsive personality disorder.  I appreciated the detailed examples of how to accommodate students with mental health disabilities.

I have learned ADD/ADHA more in detailed and I appreciate the detailed examples of how to accommodate their needs. Allowing longer test time and to take it in a separate and quiet place is a very doable modification for test taking.

I have learned and appreciated detailed examples of how to provide accommodations for the wide range of students with specific disability type

I learned there is a written policy and protocol in order for a student to be eligble for protection under law and accommodations

This section has introduced the wide range of disabilities and the different categories which will help when helping with accommodations.  I also learned that students with learning disabilities are generally ave-above average intelligence with peaks and valleys in their academic achievement.

Important to build rapport with the class as a whole and individually. REFOCUS during stagnant times.

Human factor is the key to retention. Personalize their goals, expectations, and roads to success. 

Understanding the variety of students regarding age and culture and meeting the needs of all of them.  Achieving a supportive learning environment in the class/lab to support their extrinsic needs and motivate/understand them to meet their intrinsic needs.

Learned various delivery options and the importance of variety to keep students engaged, while keeping in mind attention spans of 10-15 mins and ability to handle 5-7 steps in a demo.
