Reply to Judith Seme, PhD, RN's post:I totally agree with you here Judith and as you said this disablity subject can be very complex and there are times when we as teacher can have difficult time to decide and how to identify a student with disability unless official documents have been submutted from a licensed physician.

As an instructor, I often get students with learning disability and school often provide them with reasonable accommodations including extra time for them to complete their homework, assignments, course project(s) and additional attempts for quizzes and exams.

Reply to Jamilia Johnson's post:Hi Jamilia, I agree with you on this ehtical standard post and juts to add my thoughts, as you have said, maintaining ethical standard is always a win-win situation where everyone within the organization stays in compliant with the government regulations and build a trust with the public and future students and creates additional moral values for the institution.

Maintaining ethical standard is a cornerstone for the succ of any intitution, so all institution must maintain highest level of ethical standard possible so that they don't get in trouble with the laws and regulation or/and break any government mandated rules. All employees not only must be given proper initial training, but also be given annula or semi-annula refresher training so that they are not following mandated rules and regulations.

Reply to Sheila Heinert's post:I agree with you on this Sheila and just to add my thoughts to yours, channel of communications must be selected very carefully by the institutions making sure information is clear and concised and not vague or unclear to avoid any possible penalties.

It's a lot of information to grasp in a short time but these are all very important information for educationsal institutions to comply with government laws and regulations especially if institutions are receiving FSA and government grants or loans.

Reply to Jennifer Torrez's post: I totally agree with you Jennifer and just to add to your wonderful thoughts, accuracy and providing true information are good tools to use for school employees especially commission-based admission advisors. This practice will definitely avoid any potential liabilities and trouble with the laws.

Schools and institutions must avoid deceptive trade practices to recruit prospective students in order to just make the numbers and for admision advisors to make commission. Not paying attention to false promises or/and making false promises and giving out inaccurate information will always come back and bite institution's reputation and goodwill and eventually may be forced to shut down.

Reply to Hong Chen's post: I totally agree with you Hong and to expand my thoughts, there should also be a consistency in standard when it comes to maintaining proper compliance with laws and regulations.

This is an important section for all instiutions. Schools must follow rules and regulations properly and make sure tuey also trainall their employees especially commission-based admission advisors should be tranied more often than other salary or hourly pay employees so that they don't violate any alws and put the institution on jeapardy in any manner. Taking all rules, laws, and regulations seriously is beneficial for eveyone in the institution and it is a responsibility for everyone. Being honest and straight forward with it's clients and students (both current and prospective) a always a best policy to follow for the institution. … >>>
