This helps me to focus on recognizing the different levels of learning abilities and to recognize the needs of the individual students. As I begin to practice it more I hope to draw in the student where they need to be in this healthcare field. The goal is meet the need of the particular student while aiming at discernment and critical thinking skills. Ideally reaching an appropriate patient decision.

Engaging the students

@heatheraustin :I have the student bring up a clinical experience and have them describe what they observed. Then I have them relate this to a personal experience of their own. I follow up with how they "expierienced" the event for themselves. Sometimes my approach is to have them "visualize themselves on the receiving end" of what they are doing.

Effective Teaching Strategies

As an old newbie, we always need reminders and opportunity not to overlook the basics of any project and be able to recognize the application as well as the outcome for the student.
