About me

Born and raised in Manchester, England, I began working for my local University at a very young age.  I loved every minute and eventually returned to study myself with the full support of my employer.  They gave me the opportunity to graduate with my Bachelors, something I would never had done if I hadn't worked for and been inspired by such an amazing institution.  20 years on and now in South Florida, I am blessed to still be able to recruit for them, and be part of an amazing global network of business schools.

I am hugely passionate about education and its availability, I believe in the practice of widening partiticipation and the encouragement of the young to believe they can go to college or university, if they wish.

Activity

Last night for the first time I sat on an admissions panel at a large recruitment event.  Perfect timing! Having just completed all my compliance training it enabled me to speak with confidence and really engage with students and answer questions with authority!  Great week, great experiences.

I had to take this course when I had just started in the role of recruiting.  Whilst I had experience within my own institution, I was new to Florida.  I was able to complete the module, but felt it highlighted all the gaps in my knowledge and quite honestly it scared me.  Had I made the right move taking on this role?  A year on and I can say that I fully enjoyed the course and the learning experience.  Once again it did identify some gaps, (although not as many), it also made me realise there is a lot I… >>>

I am always ready and waiting for them, and fully prepared with information and literature.  If I am ready and prepared then I will feel confident the meeting will go well.  Greet them with a smile and welcome them as well as offer them refreshments.  It is always interesting to hear where they have come from or how their day went.  Be an active listener!

This is part of the role that I love!

The course was extremely useful and vital for me to gain a better understanding of admissions rule and regulations.  The Resource Notebook is an excellent way to organize all my admissions information and I will continue to use the lounge and resources provided to keep me up to date.
