I think it is AMERICAN to let people get degrees in whatever they want; if they choose a field with low income - that is their choice, and it should also be their happiness - what they want. The government should have less control over this.

Regarding winemaking: the vines have to grow for 5 years before the grapes are even useable for making wine - so for a start up company - they would make little income during that time. Does that mean stop letting major in that field? No.
