@petfixer27 : Encouraging students to contribute from their own experiences certainly can motivate them and increase engagement in learning. I also reinforce the relevance of that day's topic to the overall goal of being a nurse. Why does a nurse need this piece of information? How does this skill/theory content/professional behavior impact good nursing? Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the details and bringing it back to the broad goal is useful.

Upperclass support

I find it useful to have students in upper classes talk to new students. New students seem to embrace a topic passionately when an upperclassman explains the relevance in learning particular material. I love it when old students drop by. I put them to work encouraging my new students with experiental wisdom.

ED103

I wish ED103 provided instruction to determine the validity of test questions. We are struggling with that now. I don't know how to interpret the information that I am receiving. In theory, it is wonderful, but I am struggling with application.

Honestly, I'm not sure. At the end of my first year as a nursing educator, I don't have an answer to that question. And that is a problem for me. hmmmm.....
