Face to Face course is very different from an online course.  All the content of f2f course must be adapted from f2f to online which takes time, energy, and constant monitoring for good results.  

Providing a safe environment for students is the most important thing always and was brought up here again.   Communicating effectively with students ensures they stay engaged.  As a facilaitator we are required to wear many hats.  

I like both methods!

Match the tools to your needs!  With all of the tools available to us we can make sure we match these with the students needs.  It's all about the students.
