Both must be on the same page. It is silly to have the reps sell a program and the faculty teach it if they are not on the right page. We have a student now going through the program who works in admissions as a rep. She decided to take the course so she could understand it better. This is key!

I do not like the take the hard line approach but sometimes I think that it is best to just say "no assignment, no points". Unless something terrible has happened liek a death in the family. In high school students get the hand held. In college, a place they are paying for, I feel that if we allow late assignments even at a less point percetage, we are not really helping them. Just my thoughts.

As my classes are getting larger, I am having a hard time finding the time to be the one on one chef instructor to everyone for everyone. I traveled last weekend and visited another culinary school and talked with one of the older chefs that has been teaching for a long time. I told him my issue and he gave me two great tools that I plan to utilize this upcoming week with my new class. The first tool is to come into the classroom 30 minutes early and just plan on being there for the students. No admin work… >>>

I use an addendum in my class becuase our text book is not the best. In the addendum. I have the items they are responsaible for and the demos I will be doing for that day. I am considering adding some more things too it to help the students.
