I agree the student's privacy is just what it says and we have specific rules about how to keep it private. FERPA is there for a reason if violated it points to our integrity

I agree. If someone says specifically to you "Do not call me anymore" we must respect their request. If not it can be considered a form of harrassment. That is not our goal and it defeats our Core Values and Our Mission

Integrity to me is foremost the number one Core Value it stands for trust and respect for an individual. Not to mislead them to be honest and to assure an individual that they can count on you to not lead them astray, that you can be there for them if they need assistance and if you cannot assistance them you will find someone who can.  

Michael, I agree with your comment the self fulfilling prophecy was very interesting. I have experienced this prophecy with many of my students who were pretty down on themselves and their learning capabilities. When I tell my students that I believe they can do something they inturn show me that they can. I have always used this method to encourage my students that they can do more and pushed them to do their very best in all they attempt to do and it really works. It helps with retention and helps the student to make better choices when they appear… >>>

In my class I use a variety of teaching methods such as; Medical Term Bingo with Bingo cards that have word parts on them and a highlighter as the marker the students may have as many cards as they like, the more cards the more word parts they learn. I also give out small prizes like pencils and inexpensive school supplies that I find at the Dollar Store. Some other activities are individual class presentations to build student confidence in speaking sometimes hearing the subject matter from each other help them to retain the information easier.
