Our F2F classrooms had to be converted quickly due to Covid19 and were basically turned into on-line classes. As the weeks go by we are finding new ways to teach on-line. We may go to Blackboard. This is new to all the instructiors. The students are coping well, some like it more than others. We are teaching nursing and classes cannot all be on line as hands on teaching is critical. For now we are getting by.

I know my students want prompt feedback. It can be challenging if multiple students want your attention at the same time. It goes back to communication. You must be there for the student but not 24/7. It is easier for me to engage with the students in F2F settings where you can see their faces and know if they are sleeping through the lecture or if they are really 'getting it'. I'm learning how to pick up on the sleepers during on-line lecture. Call their name to answer a question, make sure thier audio and video is on. Sometimes they… >>>

Organization and communication are the most important aspects of teaching online. I think being available to students to answer questions and help them with difficult topics is also important. 

I feel like I use a little bit of each teaching style, but I really need to up my game on the technology side of teaching. I need to learn more about the different tools available and begin to incorporate them into the lesson plan.
