E-mail is the most convenient way to respond to learners, but organization and detail with record keeping is key. The real challenge for any of us is when and what intervention is warranted. When in doubt, seek your administration for guidance; remember always keep a record of all communication.

Letting my students know in advance a "Chat" session will be required, giving them an opportunity before chat, for any preparations. Make it clear that their will be allotted time at the begining for socializing, but we must adhere to the Core Chat session time rules. But inform them they will also have asynchronous sessions.

Strategies, your presence and what is used in a traditional classroom can be applicable to online learning. One of my biggest initiatives to be successful, is to give my students a sense of comfort and security by being supportive throughout their learning by informing them I will have a disscussion forum, and provide constructive feedback.

The success of the students will fall on my comprehension, resposibilities and my ability to navigate a CMS system in a course delivery format.
