I agree. While our school has declined in its enrollment over the last few years, I've actually seen it as a positive. My lecture classes are smaller and more intimate, which I think has helped to create more of a "hands-on" feeling. Plus I get to know each student and their needs more specifically.
I just completed the class myself. I found the information helpful because management and preparation are so vital to success in the classroom. I remember sitting in on cross-training sessions and always feeling like my credibility was enhanced by watching others teach tghe same material.
Thanks, Dr. Sealey. Although I've been teaching for a number of years, I'd like to take the more introductory courses too, because it can be so helpful in planning curriculum and looking at it through the eyes of a new instructor.
I just finished taking the ED-104 course on Classroom Management Strategies. Although I've been teaching for over 20 years, there were a number of valuable lessons learned in this course. I particularly enjoyed the brief, but poignant video bits from Harvard instructors. The class deals with obvious issues-New Instructor Anxieties, Tuned out Students, Cheating, etc. But if you take the time to really read each segment thoroughly, there are some helpful solutions. I have also relied on the Internet and teach a Journalism class. So I am able to keep students current by employing information from Twitter, Facebook, Zaba and LinkedIn to show them how quickly and easily reporters can now access vital information. But it's also a good reminder of how important it is for them to be educated about privacy regarding their own Social Networking pages.
