In this module I learned the importance of Keeping course records. In the past I have documented on Aeries, Canvas (LMS), made folders on my school Google Drive & a spreadsheet. I have yet to master 1 location that would benfit me, the student, parent, other teachers, & admin. Communicating with students is so important. Counseling students to a degree is important, but only when it relates to the class.  Dealing with undesirable behavior...this is something I need to work on. It is a great way to embed a video, then pause the video to ask a question students have to answer before the video continues. Checking for understanding throughout the video is effective.

Learning the difference between Fostering participation in asynchronous discussions versus synchronous discussions. Adjusting to the students needs for one or the other. Providing Feedback in a timely manner to allow time for students to modify their work. Normally I don't ask for student feedback regarding my course, because I do not like to recieved negative input. Plus, I put so much time & energy into leraning (like completing this course) & implementing a structure & content that in my eyes is perfect. It's hard to receive others comments that put in no effort or understand that online-learning requires different strategies.

I never really thought that students would respect me more by my authority because I have a Master degree or a certificate from this Online Course, but now I am begging to see that it is important to share this information. I spend hours maintaining my curriculum with modules that contain assignments, discussions, quizzes that are all updated to industry standards. Never have I ever received any recognition or praise for what I do. I just know it is important, & prepares my students for the future. 

To be a successful online teacher, you need to have the knowledge to set up the structure on your LMS (Canvas). Make your expectations clear to students, train students what they need to do to bw successful in the class. Finally, how to maintain the class (announcements, discussions, chats, grades.
