Questioning is a good tool to use for learning.  

Different learning styles can have a huge impact on how a student does many things including learning.  Instructors can provide students with a formal quiz to determine student's learn best.

There is so much information regarding the communication style of the online educator and the retention and satisfaction of the student.  An educator needs to be mindful and deliberate with communication they have with students.  This seems like a practice that takes time but is very important in the success of a class.

I might try a video welcome instead of a written one.  Even trying to make it a point to have a face-to-face meeting with students will help retain students.

Students are are less likely to be traditional students, they are often 25 yrs old and up with families.  This can create challenges, however online learning might be a better avenue for them.

I have learned 3 conditions that help build strong working alliances: genuineness, accurate empathy, and unconditional positive regard.  It was interesting to me that I have used these in my practice for a long time and will continue to do so with a little more intent going forward.
