About me

I currently am a Woodworking and Construction Teacher at Ketchikan HS. This is year 39 for me and I have taught in 12 schools in 4 different states (Alaska, Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida). I have taught Drafting, Cad, Graphic Arts, Architecture, Basic Engineering, Basic Industrial Arts and Welding as well. I'm looking forward to learning new things to add to my class.

Interests

fishing, camping, construction, woodworking, and the bible

Skills

same as above

Activity

Since I teach Woodworking, welding, and construction. Safety test and safety instruction is taught at the beginning of every class and reinforced throughout the year. For them to be career ready this point of safety can never be underestimated.

I grade alot on participation and effort due to the fact that I have students in my classes from verying grades, they have verying abilities, and and extremely different skill levels. Alot of summative assessments are used and it has served me well over these many years.

Comment on Michael Taylor's post: That is very true!!

In teaching my CTE classes, the cooperative and active learning approach is commonly intertwined so that all students will obtain the necessary instruction to be successful in my classes.

Comment on Will Jones's post: Very well stated!!

Comment on Omar Muneeb's post: Amen brother!!!!

I believe that CTE education hit all three of Blooms areas much more readily than most academic core areas due to the fact that the pyscomotor and affective are engaged much more often than in most academic classes,
