I have learned that I am on track with working with my students using Costa's Levels of Questioning. This is aligned with the concepts of Bloom. Teaching AVID for over 20 years has assisted in my usage of critical thinking lesson.

I have been telling my students for years that motivation is intrinsic. I will be be the best cheerleader on the sideline to encourage them on the journey, but they have to pull from within to reach their goals.

Coaching is more relational and needed to assist instead of dictate. We are members of a support staff for our students and need to keep in mind that this is not about us and the choices we would individually make. We are to be a guide on the side and not the sage on the stage.
