The classroom environment should be comfortable ad welcoming. However, guidelines should be put in place as well as requirements of the course. Additionally, do not rush to try and fit everything in during the first class. It is better to be clear and concise and pick-up where you left off in the next session. 

Preparation is key to the success of the classroom setting as well as connecting with students. It is also vital to understand the material being taught as well as the text that the students will use as part of the learning process. 

It is important to lead by example and look for ways to improve teaching. Engage students with the material and teach in a way that sets a tone that they are able to trust the instructor as well as the material being taught.
