Critical Thinking can be factual, linear and without emotional content. It can assist with defining the problem and lead to an efficient solution.The emotional Ah HA! is the process I usually engage in and this has the emotional component my right brain craves. The incubation period for problem solving is like having a mysterious presence inside who knows ALL of the answers...if consulted correctly. I like the Howard GardnerMultiple Intelligences. They are very accurate to my own patterns over decades.I think a combination of Critical/Creative processes serve life well.

What is different about Adult Education compared to the HS experience?

I am interested in assisting students to understand they have an active role in the classroom activity. There is a holdover from HS of the passive receptacle approach while the instructor pours in the answers. They are not yet aware of their options and power to comment, direct into new ways of solving problems, and speaking up to share impressions and ideas. I want to co-create a learning experience for them and myself. this is not about the instructor shurking her work load, but giving adults ownership to generate positive energy in their classroom participation. i look forward to doing some reading on… >>>

The Direct Manager sets the tone.

We just experienced a promotion from within as opposed to a new manager candidate hired from the outside. The wisdom of our company seeing the capabilities of this already oriented person to the flow of the workplace, the best skills and enthusiasm of each employee, allowed our whole team to exhale a sigh of relief. This manager has met privately with several of us as she navigates her new role and already the flow of efficiency had almost doubled.

Effective Presentation

Our brain is on 'absorb' for about 20 minutes...then you are courting eye glaze over and phase out mode. So you need to do an activity that can be as simple as a turn around and tell your partner a comment or two to prevent that loss of momentum. Hopefully some laughter might result and then you have an energized class. The linear students need a list recap sometimes. As a right brain instructor, I need to give them a concrete map to my often holistic narratives.
