no such thing as being over prepared. proper preparation promotes proper instruction.

Learning is not just for the students. As an instructor, you must continue to keep educating yourself and improving teaching style and techniques through professional development and feedback from other more experienced instructors.

Professional development for instructors is crucial and should be required. Although instructors in the high school and college setting have certain curricula to teach that has already been pre planned, having yearly professional development in the ever changing hospitality industry will help keep the instructors on their toes and understand the trends and changes happening and the expectations of their new and incoming students.

Engaging students with exercises that utilize all of their sense can really boost their educational retention of information provided to them. Reiteration and corrective actions with specifics on the "Why" can greatly influence the stuents better understanding of the topic at hand.

Putting things into sperspective from a business, monetary and conceptual point of view for the students, really helps them understand how the hospitality industry functions (the good and the bad) and how learning from their instructors whom have years of industry experience is a way to get a great insight and plan for their futures.

It's amazing how students from different generations learn, receive and retain information so differently! In a classroom where there may be students from multiples generatings, the instructor may have to alter their teaching style and techniques to suit everyone as best as possible. Very cool to learn that and something I've witnessed first had in my classes; some things I have to repeat verbally, other things I write physically, etc. Embracing different learning strategies definltly helps create an effective education.
