I believe providing them an outline to take notes from gives them a structure to help with understanding how notes can help them learn. I have a student who suffers from background noise issues, so I will wear a recording device as needed so the student can hear and playback my notes of instruction. So accomodations need to be followed and will truly help the student.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that being successful in the workforce is a major life step for students with disabilities. And we have to help them discover ways to achieve that success. We have to support the way they learn and help them achieve their career goals while providing the stepping stones they need for true learning.

I was really interested in the section where it talks about screen time at a young age possibly causing some learning delays and struggles in areas. I agree with the section about having patience with these students and trying to understand what they are going through in their learning process, because it's different than ours. Keeping them relaxed and focused is a big key. And if they fill comfortable to ask questions in the space that's great.

It was interesting to read and examine the stages of reading. It also made me understand those with a reading disability more and how to help them in my classroom.

I have to admit as an instructor I do worry about things that actually never happen. I think I tend to give too much information at one time and need to decrease the scoops of information I serve at one time.

I learned how to deal and engage with my silent creative designers. It's the silent ones that I don't know if they are learning and just so shy they can't open up or if they are bored with the instruction.

The biggest problem I face is cell phone usage. Next year I am going to have a numbered pocket cart that I will ask the student to place their cell phones in if I have to ask them twice to put it away. Another CTE teacher did this and it seemed to work. I am going to enforce my seating chart a little more during spring semester as well. I do have those that want center-attention and partnered with their buddy beside them it seems to get out of control.

I love icebreakers on the first day or couple of days of class. I have learned that it really helps them to open up and work as a team. I also didn't realize that the number one issue with students is not knowing the due date. I am going to double up on posting due dates inside the google classroom and inside my actual classroom to see if that will make a difference on missing deadlines this year.
