Something I learned which was new information and helpful to know was, if instructors want to post their lecture's on youtube for example there needs to be written permission from students. 

Sometimes it happens where students are also employees at the institution. There are policies that protect students from accessing their own record. They need to use the resources all other students utilize to view grades and such.  

There are important guidelines for parents when requesting their child's information (records). And age regulations. 

I learned that not all employees in an educational institution need access to student files. Only certain support staff needs access.
