About me

I'm a VN instructor at a for-profit college.  Our student receive a very good education and are prepared for their chosen careers.

Students are our number one customer.  As a customer I expect, truly demand, that I am given full disclosure of the pros and cons of a product before I purchase it.  Our students deserve no less.  They are purchasing a very expensive product, both in money and in time investment.  I want them to know all the good and bad of their chosen program and why that will be 'worth' it to them in the end.  Why once they have put out all the time and money into their program they will be able to look back and say, "I'm… >>>

This course reinforces that our students are our customers and that it is important for us to take that seriously as instructors.

I agree.  I will take a lot of work in all department to be able to get the schools all going in the same direction and saving 1 student at a time.

Great course.  I would love to see our school do this training as a school.  I think it could make a great difference in retention.

Intelligent heart really is caring and noticing other people and their feelings, actions and hearts. Paying attention to their reactions to what is happening to them in their lives.

I taught in middle school in Africa for several years and discovered that when the student were getting squirrely that if we got them up and out of their seat and had them sing a nonsense song they could again concentrate for another hour. I tried this with a university group and it work just as well.

I think it is very easy for instructors to forget our student are customers. We tend to think of them as people who should be wanting to learn, forgetting that they may not know 'how' to learn or how to study. I am frequently surprised at how busy and crowded my students homes are and how little time they have to study; let alone know how to organize sufficiently enough to study well.

I know that I myself respond very well to positive feedback from others, praise or 'good job', but was raised with critism and find myself thinking critically. It is something I have found I need to watch with my students.

What I especially like about Gen Y learners is their eagerness to learn and their ability to do that in multiple forums.
