I find in especially difficult to handle disruptive behavior and generally non-confrontational with my approach to behavior problems. We have some students with severe mental problems that can quickly turn into violence. Our students carry knives and have been known to fight with each other. In this world we must be ready for any type of personality disorder and take appropriate action based on this. Over reaction to a situation has always turned into a situation that is not productive from either side. The techniques suggested here are very helpful. yes! We use quick fire challanges used in the lab to recreate real situations in the restaurant, feeling of pressure working on the line and practicing proper communication between kitchen staff.
I use power points mixed with video clips so as to spice up the power point presentations. Use Youtube and other sites to show movies.

Soft skills are essentially important for all types of students but most important to the troubled students. Identifying them and meeting their needs is only done through these skills. Instructors that lack these skills should not be teachers. They cannot be effective teachers unless they get to know their students and identify their needs educationally. Some students will not be sucessful unless approached in the right manner. For many of these students, you only get one shot at this.
