Intuitively, as a teacher you identify students personalities in the regular classroom.  This may not be so straitforward on a e-learning environment.  However, it is important to identify behaviors and act according to each behavior to avoid disruptions on synchronous or asynchronous meetings.

Interesting guidelines to address synchronous and asynchronous meetings.  I usually address synchronouse meetings with a video session, so I try to act as if I was in a traditional classroom.  However, asynchronous meetings have always been a challenge.  The guidelines will help me deal with them.

Both the students learning about the teacher and the teacher learning about the student backgrounds are essential.  I usually on my face to face teaching I always asked each student about his background to learn something about them.  However, with online teaching I did not do it.  I think it is a great idea to ask them to post a brief introduction about themselves to fill that gap.

Online teaching techniques are different for each teacher.  However, if the course has been well structured the outcomes for the students should be the same.  For online teachers, it is very important to become very knowledgeable about the CMS platform, both from the technical point of view and from the support feedback required to students.
