I appreciated hearing that the work is not done after the interview. We must analyze the interview process, express gratitude, follow-up appropriately, and keep busy while waiting for a response. Preparation time is never wasted time!

I appreciated the balance between emphasizing skills/portfolio and also sharing endorsements. It is not enough to say that you have a skill without sharing someone who can witness it. At the same time, some work can speak for itself. Knowing the balance makes all the difference! I will share the worksheets and tips with job seekers.

I really appreciate the STAR method and learning how to choose relevant stories to share in an interview. I will share that with job seekers as well as coach them that it is not just "what" they say in an interview but "how" they say it.

In college I would often hear this quote from my instructors: "Preparation time is never wasted time." I got to see that principle demonstrated for exams while in school, but I believe I found the greater significance when I got out into the workforce and began navigating job search and the interview process. I will certainly share all of these workbooks with jobseekers so they can first come to know who they are and what they value before trying to align themselves with a career.

I find that I learn really well from acronyms, so I greatly appreciated the PADMAN (presentation, ability, dependability, motivation, attitude, network) and SOLAR (skill, outlook, look elsewhere, answer, resource) references. These resources allow a job seeker/offer seeker to truly examine how they are representing themselves to an employer to determine where the areas of growth are.

I appreciate the resources provided in this module, especially those on establishing personal branding and reframing the concept of networking. I hope to emphasize with students the importance of reaching out to healthcare facilities in the area to setup informational interviews or speak with hiring managers. In this field, it is more about finding the right job not just finding a job in general. Almost every employer is hiring, but we want to help reduce the high turnover rates by coaching students on how to become more aware about a job/employer before accepting a position.

I will be saving all of the provided resources to share with our students! I really appreciate how they make you think more about what you are looking for instead of just diving into a job board as a first step. Many times, students get frustrated because they come to me having only referred to Indeed. They haven't even taken a moment to discover the "what", "where", etc. of their new potential job. I am looking forward to using these tools to better assess where each student is at so I can help set them on the right path to… >>>

Mindsets, strategies, and emotions are all factors of the present-day job search process. We can either be limited to a fixed mindset or expand our thinking to an open mindset that we can learn on the job. I will be taking the resources that were provided in this module and sharing them with any students who come to the office needing further assistance with job search techniques.

I have come to learn that one of the keys to maintaining long-lasting relationships with employers is to be actively aware of the current struggles they face along with ways our college can alleviate their burden through the coming generations of new hires.

I have come to realize over the past few modules that employer relationships are not unilateral. They are on a continuum that we as career services representatives must work to advance. While it is a free service to employers, the expense comes through the time it takes to uncover common hindrances and work towards solutions that will deepen relationships with our employers. One specific piece of advice that I found helpful was to meet more than one person in an organization. In the event that the HR manager leaves (which in our field happens often) we still want to have… >>>
