Grammar, timeliness, and relevance are important for the students to understand. As an instructor, trying not to intervene too much but encourage students when needed to further the discussion. Rubrics are important to help instructors remain fair and neutral and allow students to have a clear understanding of what the expectations are.

Understanding that online courses are not easy, and they may even require more time. Setting clear expectations on how much and how often they need to communicate is important. Communicating often with your online students is imperative to their success.

I like the idea of making clear expectations of what is appropriate and not appropriate for communicating online. Setting those boundaries ahead of time. You can get your point across and remain respectful which sometimes students' do not understand. 

This course has taught me the importance of utilizing different forms of communication and inquiring from my students' what ways they prefer to communicate.
