I was surprised about consumer protection agencies overseeing proprietary schools. I get the protection from predatorial schools and that this exists, but this is education, standards, evidence-based methodology, evaluation, etc. matter!
I am quite interested in being able to go back once classes start to really put some of this into action and see how this social constructivist approach works; it gets my wheels turning about faculty retention to because the high quality, consistent and timely feedback from a positive perspective, with clear expectations up front is definitely something.
I think the importance of faculty knowing the expectations as an online instructor and also knowing ahead the criteria by which they are evaluated.
I have learned that I am doing a very good job of focusing on building a core online team with strong industry experience; so far this course has not taught me anything knew but reinforced I am keeping ahead of trends and also focusing on quality instruction, faculty satisfaction, and strategies for faculty retention.
