FERPA enforces compliance of privacy and protection student's education records. Guidelines have been established to allow a student, parent or spouse access to such records, but not without proper verification.

No matter where an offense occurs of sexual harassment or sexual violence, it must be investigated per Title IX or VAWA policy to determine if it falls under the guidelines established. An investigation by the Title IX coordinator does not transfer to a criminal investigation.

The Title IX coordinator is responsible for the training, procedure and processing of any harassment that takes place within the organization. However, the Title IX coordinator must take into consideration the confidentiality and protection of the victim and proceed with caution as it relates to the policies established. Being aware of the process, allows the instructors to initiate the proper procedure and direct the student or employee appropriately.

Each of these regulations Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act even though focus on specific protections each provide the necessary guidelines to ensure every individual is protected from unwanted sexual advances or violence. Understanding these regulations will allow me as an instructor to properly implement the necessary procedures to assist an individual impacted by such acts.

Students will require motivation to encourage learning; therefore, as an instructor it is important to reinforce students learning by providing positive feedback.

Keeping the students engaged with various strategies to help solidify their understanding of the content. Using storytelling is great concept to incorporate during a long lecture to prevent boredom. 

Being creative, flexible, and attentive will allow fun and engaging learning. Respect each student and remember each brings different life experiences to the classroom. I will make sure to use positive feedback to encourage and support the students desire to learn.

Having knowledge of the student's experiences and why, will allow me as an instructor to provide relevant encouragement to meet the student's needs. I must ensure that I maintain a professional stance, yet offer encouragement, compassion and guidance to promote the optimum outcome for the student.

Even when I develop a lesson plan, it is important to remain flexible to adapt to the needs of the students. I plan to use several teaching methods to reach as many students as possible.

Taking the opportunity to get to know your students and sharing a bit about yourself and experiences. Allow your students to see you as human and begin to develop a connection.
