I learned that my role would be to treat them equally and point them in the right direction. Discrimination based on a disability could face charges.
I learned that Universal Design had such an impact on accommodations.
I learned that disabilities arent always a physical limitation but also could be a mental limitation. Care and opportunities should be given to make learning available for all regardless of disabilty status
I learned that accommodations are a floor but not a ceiling for those with disabilities. Therefore making it fair for those who have physical or mental limitations in education.
I leanred that the impact of technology and distance learning has made some of the protection difficult, therefore we need to be more careful on how we share information.
I learned that if an employee is also a student he or she cannot just view their own record unless they go through the proper channels in order to view the records.
I have learned that only the student or those who have the right to access the students record can view it. Unless authorized by the student.
It protects the privacy o the students. Interesting enough that it applies to alumni files as well.
I learned that consent is a big actor and is easily misinterpreted.
I learned that the evidence required for a Title IX is less than what is required for a criminal offense. Have to report and perform an investigation.
