The issue of shyness is exactly right in my opinion. Also, for me personally, I am an older student and was taught to raise my hand and wait to be acknowledged. Younger students just speak out. I found that in an online situation, I was free to talk whenever I wanted without violating antiquated ideas of politeness :)

Domain name

I attempted to access google apps for educators by following the link - they asked for a domain name or to pay for one. What experience have people had with this app. Also, this section didn't mention google voice. I use google voice as a contact number for my students to call or text me. It keeps my personal cell phone number secret but yet allows student to contact me easily. My students typically prefer to text.

Social Media

How have you used Social Media as an enhancement to learning? What role do you think Social Media has in the formation of community? I recently completed my EdD and did my dissertation on the use of Social Media to enhance community that would lead to adult learning - drawing from the theories that community formation enhances adult learning. I'd love to have more discussion about this.

21st Century Marketing Collateral

Actually, I think eventually they will. People are utilizing qr codes for instant access to video resumes. I think that will be the main trend of the future - however, in certain fields, graphic resumes are also popular. However, I think it will take time as many people are still very resistant to change and technology.

Mixed bag

That's true. I am not an education major but working on an EdD with a bunch of professional educators - plus my dissertation topic deals a lot with andragogy - therefore, I have learned a lot about teaching adults. It has served me well in this environment. One of my major goals beyond the subject matter is to build community among my students. This is critical in andragogy.

Buddy system

I really liked the idea of a buddy for students enrolling late. I've had these situations and orientation can be difficult. Most of my classes are small so that helps but pairing the new individual with someone seems very useful and a great idea.

Mixed bag

Most of the instructors where I work are very involved with the students. This is one of the things I admire and love the most about where I work. However, there are a few that seem to have no interest in the student are a person. Also, some do not seem to be adaptable to the classroom dynamics and size. In the last 12 weeks, I've taught two sections of the same course. The first class was very big, 17. The second class was very small, 3.
