About me

I am a retired high school teacher who has returned to the work force part-time to teach adults. I love teaching adults who want to learn and I love helping them meet their career goals. I love to learn new things myself, so I am good at encouraging learning in others. I enjoy working with other instructors in my school to help the students succeed. I try to never approach my superiors with a problem without having first tried to solve it myself or at least have an idea how it might be solved (unless such is a clear violation of chain of command and is completely outside my purview, then that's a different story altogether! Some things are and should be "above my pay grade!") I am hoping to have more classes to teach when we get our BSN program up and running here.

Interests

reading, cooking, puzzles of all kinds, learning, genealogy, teaching folks how to learn and how to teach

Skills

cooking, english language, spanish language, math, more than basic computer skills but not enough to be it, problem-solving, empathy, and a few other things i can't remember until i need them

Activity

I have learned some of what I sort of already knew, that positive responses to even the most negative events can help anyone manage better and even thrive. I learned ways to articulate this to others, rather than just having a nebulous internal concept that I struggled to communicate. New tools to use with my adult students as they navigate the world of work, family and school all rolled into one.
