Humaor can be a great ice breaker in class.  Humor can get out of line if you allow it.

@chittenden : Motivation is the influence one has over another using rewards or punishment.  As an instructor, I hope that my students realize that I am there for them and that the only reward would be the incredible opportunity to learn information that will be used to further their career goals.  I do not use grades as a motivator not as a punishment, however, students are aware that their grades are dependent upon their efforts and abilities to do the work required to "master" the subject.

EL102 was very informative and provided some very helpful information regarding online instruction and managing the E-learner for success.  I thoroughly enjoyed the information received.

Even though my group is composed of members from varied cultural backgrounds and many miles distanced to each other, we have managed to stay close in contact with one another, engaging each other in thought and understanding that there is a difference among us.

This class was instructional and provided many pearls of wisdom regarding the new methods being used to manage class strategies.  I recommend this class to all of my colleagues.  It is not how large your class can be but how wise your students are when they have completed it.
