Revisions can cause axiety, but the the only way to improve is to assess and compare. Thus it is a key aspect of teaching an online class.

When creating assessments, it is important to consider Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy. Some questions may require that students demonstrate higher-order thinking to show their understanding of the subject/content.

Syllabi for the online environment must be dynamic. Using the old, flat method to a course syllabus will not be effective for online.

A learning-objects database is a great idea. It is also a good idea to make sure that all instructors can contribute to it and access it. There is no need to reinvent the wheel if another instructor has already created something that works well in the course.

Noisy learners are those you will perceive as surfing around the main issues being addressed in the topic of a discussion thread. This can be addressed by reach out to them directly and giving them encouragement/guidance on how to address the topics directly.

I learned that it is important to keep synchronous sessions to no more than 30 minutes. I do think it is wise to split up instruction. If you go too long in a synchronous classroom without varying your instruction or mixing things up, students will zone out quickly.

This section pointed out the importance of biographies allowing students to provide basic information including names they preferred to be called. Their legal and official name may be listed, but if they prefer a nickname or shortened version of their name, using that is an easy way to show you care about them as a student. I have found by doing so, students are more responsive when we need to address more serious issues.

"Different instructors are likely to take different approaches to teach toward those goals." I think it is important to note that there is more than one way to reach the goals of the class. It is important not to compare yourself to another instructor's style. You should be true to your own style while ensuring the goals of the course are still being met.
