I was not familiar with the terms and differences between the terms, i.e., formative versus summative. Additionally, I learned about some of the tools used - minute write, muddy points, 1-2-3 etc.

I know I want to be a guide to my students. I have to work on consistency.

I plan on using both synchronous and asynchronous techniques. I feel that they both have a place in the online learning environment. For example, I belive that course lecture should be synchronous giving the learner the opportunity to ask questions in real-time. Having questions answered in real-time, especially if the content is very technical, can alleviate the learners anxiety. However, answering posted questions, in my opinion, should be offered in an asynchronous mode. Also, I feel that learners must submit their answeres before being allowed to see the postings of other learners.

I only have experience, to date, in a class room. I found it very interesting in how E learning has similarities to the class room, however, I can see that there are drastic differneces as well.

I learned that there are a number of tools that I can employ to motivate the student and keep them enthusiastic about learning the material. Also, I need to be flexible so that I can adapt to a particular student's needs.

as an intructor you must continuously find ways to draw students in and engage them in the learning process. I thought the idea of shaking things up occassionally to re-energize the class was valuable.

after reading this material I reflected on my education. I had teachers that ran the gamut of the" monotone plodder" who made class a tortuous experience to the dynamic teacher who captivated students and made learning fun.

I plan on trying to be dynamic and adaptive. I undertand that each group of students may need a different approach to maximize their learning experience. I can not set my teaching method in stone.

I learned that having intimate knowledge of a subject doesn't always translate into being a good teacher. one must be able to take into consideration the backgrounds, goals and possible limitiations of the students being taught.
