The challenge of inactive learning is to reengage the students.

It is important to realize that we can engage in passive learning every day as we watch and listen to people around us or observe signs, directions, and read and watch online information and shows.

The goal of all instruction is to engage students in their own learning process.  The idea of active learning addresses how engaged a student is in his or her own learning.
