There are formal and informal groups. Putting students in formal groups can help them learn from each other.

That instructors should step away from their desk and move around the room the hold the students attention. 

Have a variety of teaching techniques. Start class in a dramatic and enticing way to grab their attention. Get to class early to read the vibe of your class.

Clearly explain how the class will run and what you expect. Also, learn your students names and get to know them

Make sure to be prepared for your classes. Also, have a syllabus that gives the full layout of the course

Everyone teaches differently, you have to stay true to yourself and what you know. Also, never stop learning.
