Activity

This module is very interesting and the information presented would have been great to have earlier in my career!  I am looking forward to trying more active learning activities :)

Wow--looks like our curriculum needs some work on developing more active learning!  Our issue is that there is so much information to teach that it's difficult to find the time to do any of the suggested learning activities--which is unfortunate, as these learning activities help to engage the students and to deepen their knowledge--or the students do not want to do them

It would be great to include different types of assessments into our curriculum--I plan to try to follow the suggestions presented for good assessments with our curriculum development team as I've noticed that the types of questions in exams don't match the principles/suggestions outlined in this course

doing the mini classrooms assessment techniques (CATs)are something that I can incorporate into class teaching.  Sometimes our curriculum is lecture heavy--so by bringing in these soft skills more often it would help develop the student's ability to be successful in their careers

I have experimented with using the Socratic method with some success--this information will help me practice specific kinds of questions to deepen students' understanding in class

I plan to ask our employer to ask new student nurses to complete a learning style questionnaire prior to beginning classes--this will help to identify learning style in a class prior to beginning their education.  Also, I will keep the learning styles in mind when deciding on which learning activities to do along with prescribed curriculum lectures.
