Like yourself I ask my students questions because this allows him or her to particapte in classromm discussion and sometimes assists on drawing the quiet students out of their shell. I have found there are those who are always eager to answer questions, and sometimes do not want to give another student a chance to answer, so what I have found that works is to call a student by name so each student can have a chance and if or when I feel they may not know the answer, I will tell them I will come back to them later… >>>

I agree this is an excellent tool for new instructors that can assist him or her tp prepare for their first day of class
