Hello, My name is Karlyna. I am a post secondary school Registrar. As a school Registrar my job duties includes building class schedules, printing transripts, collecting attendance, meeting with students to discuss graduation plans and writting recommandation letters. I enjoy what I do and would like to continue furthering my skills to better help the students.

The purpose of communication is to get your message across to others clearly. However, how do you clearly communicate with someone who’s not from the same culture?
You have just a few seconds to make a good first impression and it's almost impossible ever to change it. So it's worth giving each new encounter your best shot. Therefore, be polite and have a positive attitude.
I agree... I always read my school catalog to ensure I am in compliance with the school guidelines.
Allow flexibility for possible delays is always helpful.
Conversations are based on verbal give and take. It may help you to prepare questions you have for the person you are meeting for the first time beforehand.

When it comes to making the first impression, body language as well as appearance speaks much louder than words. If you are calm and confident, so the other person will feel more at ease and that's a solid foundation for making that first impression a good one.
